📖 Getting Started Guide
Learn how to create characters and generate amazing assets
👤 Step 1: Create Your Character
Start by creating a new character profile with basic information:
- Character Name: Give your character a memorable name
- Description: Include important details about your character that you want preserved in generated assets - things like hair color, eye color, clothing style, distinctive features, or personality traits that affect their appearance
- Source Images: Upload 1-3 high-quality images that clearly show your character
🤖 Step 2: AI Character Analysis
After you create your character and upload source images, StableGen automatically analyzes your images and generates a detailed character description. This AI-generated description helps "lock in" the important visual features of your character for consistent asset generation.
The autogenerated description includes details like:
- Physical appearance and facial features
- Hair color, style, and texture
- Clothing and accessories
- Art style and visual characteristics
⚙️ Step 3: Customize Your Asset Generation
StableGen uses a powerful 6-component system to create exactly the asset you need. Choose from each category:
Action
- Standing, walking, running
- Sitting, kneeling, jumping
- Climbing, sliding, crawling
- Punching, kicking
- Lying down (back, side, stomach)
Expression
- Neutral, happy, sad
- Angry, surprised, scared
- Laughing, crying, asleep
- Winking, determined
Zoom Level

⚡ Step 4: Generate Your Assets
Ready to bring your character to life? Here's how:
- Go to your character's page
- Choose one option from each of the 6 categories (Action, Expression, Zoom Level, Camera Angle, Camera Height, Lighting)
- Select your AI model:
- 🍌 Gemini Flash 2.5 Image Preview
- 🌱 Seedream 4.0
- Click "Generate Asset"
- Wait a few minutes for the AI to work its magic
- Your new asset will appear automatically on the page
✏️ Step 5: Editing Your Assets
Already have assets but need adjustments? StableGen offers three powerful editing approaches:
🖼️ Canvas Editing
Best for: Complex compositions, creative experiments, combining multiple elements
- Multi-layer compositing: Combine images, drawings, and text
- Drawing & sketching tools: Sketch poses and layouts for AI enhancement
- Text and shape overlays: Add titles, labels, and geometric elements
- AI enhancement integration: Send your canvas work to AI for professional polish
- Direct saving: Click "Save as New Asset" with no prompt to save canvas work directly
⌨️ Prompt-Based Editing
Best for: Overall changes, style adjustments, adding/removing accessories
- Find the asset you want to edit and click "Edit"
- Stay on the "Prompt + Reference" tab
- Write a natural language prompt describing your changes (e.g., "Add sunglasses", "Change hair color to blue", "Make the character smile more")
- Optionally upload a reference image to guide the AI
- Select your AI model:
- 🍌 Gemini Flash 2.5 Image Preview
- 🌱 Seedream 4.0
- Click "Edit with AI"
🎨 Precision Mask Inpainting
Best for: Fixing specific problems, replacing individual elements, surgical precision edits
- Find the asset you want to edit and click "Edit"
- Switch to the "Mask Inpainting" tab
- Click "Enable Mask Drawing" and paint over the areas you want to regenerate
- Write a prompt describing what should appear in the masked areas (e.g., "red dress", "normal hands with 5 fingers", "sunset sky")
- Click "Inpaint Masked Areas"
💡 Best Practices
Get the most out of StableGen with these tips:
- Image Quality: Use high-resolution source images (at least 512x512px)
- Consistent Lighting: Well-lit images produce better results
- Clear Features: Make sure your character's face and distinctive features are visible
- Multiple Angles: Upload images from different angles for more variety
- Experiment: Try different asset types to see what works best for your character
- Edit Prompts: Be specific but concise in your edit requests - "Add red baseball cap" works better than "Make it look cooler"
